Termite Control

Termite Control

In West Palm Beach, termites are prevalent. There are two primary species, Drywood and Subterranean. The former species is much more visible, and Drywood termites certainly deserve their reputation for being destructive. It is easy to see them and what they can do to a Florida home. Even so, the Subterranean species is larger, their colonies more extensive and they cause much more damage.

Every study made on termites estimates that there are between 4 to 8 Subterranean colonies for each acre in our part of South Florida. Each of these colonies contains hundreds of thousands of termites, and the larger ones can hold up to a million. That means half a million termites are probably less than ten feet from your home; right now. Worse, those termites are probably damaging your home right now as well.

At Shoreline Environmental Pest Solutions, we have used a variety of chemicals over the last five decades to battle termites. When it comes to the Subterranean species, we have found that Termidor is the most effective insecticide to not only eliminate an infestation but to help prevent future infestations as well. We use it exclusively to protect hundreds of homes in West Palm Beach, and it has been used to protect more than 4 million homes nationwide.

Since Subterranean termites live in the soil, our personnel use TermaTrac sonar to pinpoint their colonies and determine exactly where they are in your home. The sonar inspection allows us to build a diagram of the colony; identifying the perimeter, the highways inside and between the colonies (also called mud tubes), and the access points they have into your home.

With this diagram, we insert Termidor into the access points and just inside the perimeter, protecting your home. The termites crossing the perimeter back into the colony bring the insecticide with them and spread it to the other colonies. Since it is underground and out of the weather, Termidor lasts for a long period and prevents new colonies from building on the same ground.

Subterranean termite infestations can be expensive for homeowners, but you can reduce the cost when you have Shoreline Environmental Pest Solutions professionally apply Termidor to your property. If you see termites on your home or property, or just suspect a problem, call us at (561) 907-8629 today. We are here to help.
